Module Breakdown
Introduction to Interpersonal Communication
This module introduces the basics of communication in everyday and work situations. Learners will explore different communication styles and how these affect interactions with others. The module focuses on developing practical skills such as active listening, building rapport, and using an assertive approach in simple situations.
The Communication Process – Verbal & Non Verbal
This module focuses on how people communicate using both verbal and non-verbal methods. Learners will explore how tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, and gestures affect communication. The module helps learners to communicate clearly and understand others in a range of everyday situations.
The Communication Process – Visual
This module introduces learners to visual communication. Learners will explore how messages are communicated using images, signs, colour, and the environment. They will also practise interpreting different types of visuals such as charts, diagrams, logos, and advertisements.
Reading, Writing & Listening
This module develops essential communication skills for understanding and sharing information. Learners will practise reading techniques such as skimming and scanning, identifying key points, and extracting information. They will also develop basic writing skills for everyday documents and practise effective listening skills.
Information Technology
This module introduces common communication technologies used in everyday life and work, such as email, mobile phones, and online platforms. Learners will explore how these technologies support communication and how they are used to send and receive information.
Communication & Legislation
This module provides an overview of basic rules and guidelines related to communication in personal and work contexts. Learners will explore topics such as health and safety, data protection, and appropriate use of communication tools.

Many of our courses are now available in a variety of classroom formats. All formats cover the same course content.
Live Virtual Online Classroom
Live lectures are delivered using Zoom (www.zoom.us) or MS Teams if requested. During these sessions, your tutors will use interactive learning elements to ensure an engaging learning experience. When appropriate, students will be encouraged to activate their video and microphones so that they can ask questions and enhance peer to peer learning
Online courses can be accessed from any computer or laptop with an internet connection.
In-Person and Onsite Classroom
Optimum Limited can provide in-company onsite training if requested. If there is not a classroom available, Optimum can provide a training room in the HQ Office in Dublin.
Optimum can also provide training in hotels conference rooms or room hires if requested.
On Demand
On Demand courses enable you to complete your course on your own time. Optimum have an e-learning platform called MyOptimum which includes a library of online on demand training programmes. This learning platform comprises of pre-recorded videos and interactive powerpoints followed by activities designed to put the new information and concepts into practice through exercises, quizzes, forum participation and other activities.
